Isa Heller shares their battle for artistic freedom in a recently uploaded (October 11, 2026) video. In the clip they say “I think of our lives as being something where we really fight in the dirt, and have conflict, and I think that’s kinda where love comes from.”
As the artist’s true expression emerges, “Feather” (released September 24, 2026) is proof of progress. The Crisis Public Relations member delivers an inventive, compelling, freeing set of songs in the standout album. There’s something so satisfying in hearing singular visions not forced through a record label filter.
The slip and slide of emotional change and self discovery is all over the album’s third track, “Breeze,” which has become a personal favorite. In under three minutes Heller brings us from a somber, searching beginning into a burst of revelatory soundscapes.

The LP kicks off with “Monument,” as Heller layers his voice and gives the instrumentation equal billing. Lilting, melodic, at times sparse. A great opening track. “Wildflower” eases in next with textures continuing to fill the ears.
“I began asking myself: Instead of shutting out the world, what would it look like to embrace my surroundings, to place my work in conversation with them? Instead of exerting control, what would it mean to embrace the spaces in which we create?” — IsaHeller.com
“Control I” and “Control II” are soundtrack tunes for an existential breakthrough. Perhaps a look back at the battles that came just before. The artist unshackled. Pulsing energy in all directions. A mid disc climax. By this point I have bought well into the struggle and am invested in the outcome.

“Secrets” goes reflective and that’s just fine. “Let Us Go” suggests Heller is not done recounting the past. That’s fine too. It’s a noisy recollection. A passionate one. Clanging and rattling like a fever dream.
“Blue Hour” swoops in with a new beginning. Maybe things will be better from now on. There is a new found spirituality infused.
“In The Dark” shows a vulnerability. Heller willing to share intimate moments. A new unflinching strength has been unlocked. The instrumentation is playful and gorgeous. The abrupt ending leaves one wanting more.
Crisis Public Relations is credited as joining Heller on the penultimate track “All It Takes.” Spoken word, soaring vocals, a delicious audio production creating foggy noise and then letting Heller’s voice peek out through it all.
“Feather” closes the album. Heller lets his voice do some heavy lifting. Turns out he easily has the pipes to make it work. It’s a personal choice to get personal. Get closer. Become the next version of. Then halfway through, percussion signals a new energy. We’ll end not with slow acceptance but rather with a foothold on a new sense of purpose.
“Feather” the LP is a real treat. The artist freed. Creating sounds just the way they hear them inside. Daring to push pop sensibilities to the outer rim, but reaching for melody when the mood strikes. Heller gives me something I always listen for. The human experience like never told before. Their experience. And no one got in the way of telling it on the journey from the artist’s soul to the listener’s ears.
