Blokeacola continues his ongoing reality check soundtrack with “Boastcard,” independently released on October 2, 2026. The new collection of songs features new sounds, further experimentation…and a trademark skewering look at modern day life and politics.
The first half of “Boastcard” could be observed as already lost to the world. Blokeacola inhabits people trying to make everyday life mean something. Or at least be numb to it.
“Catapult (lead off track) is essentially middle aged commuter contemplation. Our protagonist has been hitting the gym, trying to keep up with the younger employees. He’s his own personal project,” Blokeacola says in the LP release media pack. Then later he adds, “What is work anyway? It used to be an activity. Now it just seems to be a place where people graze on ultra-processed foods to pass the time.“
This is the sort of stuff you’ll get from Blokeacola. Observant, sardonic, but delivered with a calm voice rather than a scream.
There are new textures here musically. The artist is expanding his range even as he stays focused on communicating his sense of dread. He plays with altering his voice. There is often more going on just beneath the surface. The ear catches new layers in the background. The world is both more delicate and more dangerous than before.

Blokeacola might not gravitate towards catching lines and hooks, but Don’t Set Me Up (For A Fall) delivers some anyway, allowing a vocal accent to chime through with a flourish of guitar work in the background. For the most part though, the first half of “Boastcard” sets a scene of humanity under duress.
The second set of five tunes includes The River Why, which Blokeacola admits is kind of a peek into his own mind. “The title was inspired by the River Wye which runs through a beautiful part of the world I was lucky enough to grow up in. I’d been feeling distressed by how polluted it’s become. I guess this song title is partly alluding to the endless questions posed by a restless mind, that will, for the most part, never be resolved, but will continue being asked anyway.“

“Boastcard” ends with Throwaway Lines. One lyric section says “Let’s have a race to build factories in space for when we die….I’m the dog with a cone on its head, wagging its tail…Everyone looks on in pity, or they laugh, but I just want to scratch this itch…”
Blokeacola continues to be a singular artist chipping away with the tools at his disposal. Musically he has enriched his sound on “Boastcard.” Lyrically he can still find inspiration in a world that seems less and less inspired to be good. It’s a vibrant tug and pull within the album: seeing things get worse around you while at the same time expanding your sonic range to alert the listener. Hey, things suck. But, a spoonful of sugar, you know?
“Boastcard” is a single soul searching for hope in a world where that same search often returns only faint chords, possibly imagined whispers, static slipping over and between both fake and real scenarios. In order to even see a glimmer of light, you’ve got to first admit to and then describe the darkness around it. It’s the only way this all works. No matter how daunting, stay aware of what is wrong. Have good days, bad days, boring days. Just don’t let the current world overcome you. Call out the dark. Stare, stare, stare… towards the light slipping between the cracks in the machine.
