Ontario Canada duo Tapes In Motion (see glowing review here) move into the #1 spot on the December 5, 2022 UncleEars.com New Music Top 40 with their song “The End Of It All.” They also are the first act to place three songs in the chart on the same week as “Turquoise Dream” is the highest debut song at #20. “A Whisper” is currently #15.
The biggest move going #35 to #14 is “Darker Now” (see review here) by Manchester UK Gothic Country duo Bad Luck. The chart has seen an impressive collection of longer, slower, gothic folk styled tunes in recent months. As some of those fade in their chart lives, this one is rising up to keep the movement alive.
UncleEars.com often draws from the monthly playlist for chart contenders. Our December playlist has 14 songs right now with fresh finds added all the time. Looking them over, it appears guitar pop and melody layered folk will continue to bring the music in future chart editions.
