Melting Reeds‘ 2024 EP “Sundown” garned attention and praise online.
They are back with two new singles released a month apart in September and October of 2025. Both have accompanying videos. ‘Flaming Pop’ is used as a musical descriptor on the band’s Instagram.
“Over My Head” came first. Most recently came “In A Hurry.”
They have been listed online as both from Switzerland and Belgium. On their Instagram page they note that “In A Hurry” was recorded in Vevey. So was “Over My Head.” A search using AI suggests they are Belgian. We’ll get this sorted eventually. In any case, both songs were sent off to Melbourne, Australia for final mixing. Job well done by Crystal Mastering.

These new tunes show great depth of composition and performance. Both are inherently atmospheric and float in and out of any time period or style. There is great use of guitar twang and fuzz as well as vocal overlapping. Choruses are full of melody and harmony. Lead vocals are soulful and stirring.
The last minute of “In A Hurry” harkens to classic folk rock and makes the hair on my arms stand up. It’s exciting to catch wind of a group on their way up.
Melting Reeds promise more from them is on the way soon, where ever they come from.
