M. Dunton’s “Hotel Lobby” is a sublime entry for any autumn playlist. Sitting in a public place but pondering very private feelings and their possible ramifications.
Justify the lines we’ll cross again
Blame it on our complex psyche
Hearts are meant to give and pull and bend
But I’m about
I’m about to break
M.Dunton – “Hotel Lobby”
Everything works here. Top-notch songwriting, beautiful arrangement, notes plucking at your psyche…and Dunton’s vocal performance is one of the best of 2023.

“What am I supposed to do? What am I supposed to do about it? What am I supposed to do about it now?” Dunton croons, his breaks harkening to Thom Yorke.
The addictive chorus never loses its power, instead inviting us to return…eased onward, somehow willingly trapped by the instrumental interludes.
4:20 of perfection.
