“Theory of Ghosts” is one of the most-loved tunes by former London outfit Piano Magic (wiki.)
Glen Johnson borrows from himself in 2023 as Theory of Ghosts becomes the name of the band. A trio of creatives, to be more precise.
Franck Alba – Fender VI, backing vox, piano
Robert Hervais-Adelman – drums
Glen Johnson – guitars, synthesizers, vox, words
The trio have a first EP of four songs out now. The two that bookend the EP are the stuff of reflective, transformative, evocative folk pop dreamscapes.
In the garden of the chapel
When the rain stops
A catalogue of roses
Bow their heads like widowed brides
A priest removes a bookmark
And a soldier steps outside
“When The Rain Stops.”
For all the expectation
For all the reverie
For all the fond illusion
We are leaves upon the breeze
For all the self-deception
For all the make believe
For all the wishful thinking
We are leaves upon the breeze
“Leaves Upon The Breeze”
These songs arrive already dog-eared, humble and wise. Conveying strings of thoughts as if through the haze of a muddled afternoon. Simple but profound. No longer in love with life’s secrets but still able to muse about them.
