Malik Brown provides “Miracles” And Mystery For The Holidays

So just who is Malik Brown? The Malik Brown of the song “Miracles,” released recently and making its debut on the UncleEars.com New Music Top 40?

There is a topic for Malik Brown on YouTube Music. It features five songs. Brown is also on Spotify with the same catalog. But no leads on social media connecting an artist to the music.

Why do I wonder? “Miracles” is a perfect tune for this time of year. It sounds holiday-ish and gives off warm vibes from the lead vocal, story-setting lyrics and musical arrangement.

I instantly am reminded of The Postal Service and “Such Great Heights.”

The cover art for “Miracles” creates more mystery.

Malik’s voice is soft and smoky. It carries the melody of the song well and understands the inherent drama in the writing of it. It bounces along, not too sweet, not too inwardly reflective.

Just past two minutes the song gives us a cool break with what sounds like a synth trumpet interlude (with a Harmon mute?) It’s just enough to whet the appetite for the drums and refrain to return and carry out the rest of the tune.

Do you believe in miracles? Malik Brown asks us in a cool, gentle way. He’s not challenging your belief system. He’s just wondering if you’ve thought about it. Maybe the holidays will offer up that chance.

This art appears on other Malik Brown songs, but not “Miracles.”
