The Autumn of 2022 is ready for a soul-searching journey via song and English band The Lucky 13’s have delivered a stirring, moving, unforgettable ode to the ebbs and flows of life with “Gamble My Soul.”
“Gamble My Soul” debuted at #21 on last week’s Uncle Ears New Music Top 40. It’s likely headed into the Top 20 in the upcoming week.
Jamie Johnson’s (Facebook) voice has a built-in weathered tone that serves the song well. Words pour forth and we are taken by the vocals and instrumentation into the waves of the ever so brief human condition. It’s a spiritual contemplation. There is a deep emotion power at work here.
Powerful, soulful & uplifting – The Lucky 13s originate from the South East of England. Formed in 2019 they set out to create and perform original music that was swamped in soul and that melds vintage rhythm and blues with modern day story telling.
The band features frontman Jamie Johnson’s compelling, gravely, & symphonious vocals over an effortlessly deep pocket, melodic and exciting guitar work from award winning guitarist & composer Dudley Ross and energetic and catchy lines from The Lucky 13s horn section.

The LP “Gamble My Soul” is out now (link.) We’ve heard the title track which also serves as the collection’s closing song. It’s a hymn of highest order. What a way to end a debut album.
