Don’t sleep on MorMor.
The Toronto talent got plenty of listens when Heaven’s Only Wishful debuted in 2018. Since then the artist’s YouTube channel (link) has grown to over over 74,000 subscribers.
It’s Fall 2022 and the latest MorMor release is “Seasons Change.” My first thoughts are how great it is to hear his voice again.
Next I feel a tingling in my ears — is it 1979 by Smashing Pumpkins calling? Perhaps an inspiration.
“Seasons Change” is a bright, melancholic indie-pop song. “As the river flows on constantly / Time will never wait as seasons change,” MorMor sings amidst blissful handclaps and reverby surf rock licks. “You know better than to waste time,” he warns before the chorus. It’s the perfect bittersweet reminder as the summer comes to a close.

Seth Nyquist (read a thoughtful write-up here, too) has built-in cool to go along with his staggering talent as a writer, mixer, engineer and performer. Not sure where modern radio fits in to his world, but it should adapt to let him in. All the way. Heavy rotation. Let’s go DJ’s of the underworld.

Toronto’s MorMor shares the new song “Seasons Change”, marking the artist’s second offering of the year. The self-written and produced song arrives as Summer begins to draw to a close and features a propulsive groove that serves as a counterpoint to the bounce of recent single “Far Apart”, which arrived last month alongside a Camille Summers Valli-directed video.
