New Wave Kill Freezes Time For 2:39 In Atmospheric New Single “Cold Night”

Even if we don’t know them yet, New Wave Kill seem to already know exactly what they want to sound like. This new dark wave band remain a bit of a mystery except for the posts by lead singer Felipe Vein (Instagram.) In time we’ll likely learn much more.

For now, we dive into their world with the single “Cold Night,” a haunting track that delivers atmosphere, chills, heartache and family trauma all packed into just 2:39 and featuring the low register vocal prowess of Vein.

Talk about not overstaying your welcome. I could have wandered lost and searching in this tune for at least twice as long as the track goes. Yet in the short stay of “Cold Night” there is so much to be intrigued by.

“Cold Night” lyrics

We could ponder the influences driving the creation of New Wave Kill. The territory of goth rock and dark wave is one with multiple discoverers and wanderers over the decades. But I’d rather just turn out the lights and hit the “repeat” button.

Here we are in 2022, and emerging from a cold night comes a wonderfully crafted tune that secretly enters and softly leaves. The first entry in a timeless time travel soundtrack. Wearing black and existing merely to tease life’s shadows. 2:39 has passed, but an aura remains, frozen in time.

Live videos on their YouTube channel suggest a Madrid location for the band.
