Somewhere the road winds. Headlights play with patterns of light. It’s 2 AM and the task at hand is staying awake, keeping your hands on the wheel, driving between those lines.
French Indie Pop band Attic Birds have a soundtrack for early morning journeying. “Drivin” takes us there with smooth vocals, tasty sax, a solid baseline.
It’s all about ambience and mood. Synthesizers ping between guitar plucks. The car moves in between dreams, around curves, going everywhere yet standing still.
A northern group (from Lille) celebrating its tenth anniversary, Attic Birds took a little time to get started but now seems to be making up for lost time. Indeed, the group released their first EP Colourbreak in 2019 and here is Let’s Talk About People, the first long-format indie rock music drawing its influences from the cream of the U.S. scene.

“Drivin” is the last song on their album “Let’s Talk About People.” It can rightfully join a pantheon of tunes capturing what it feels like to wander.
You take the wheel and somehow the hours pass. Have you dozed in and out of consciousness? You don’t remember all the places along the route. It’s daybreak. You have arrived.
“(Let’s Talk About People is) A homemade album that, for passionate amateurs like us, was a crazy investment, to say the least. But the game was well worth it and for everyone with a project in the corner of their head, even if the road sometimes seems long, with perseverance and envy, we always end up reaching the destination.“
