Tom McRae’s Latest Tune “The Beast” Spins You On It’s Endless Carousel

Tom McRae (wiki link) is up for seducing listeners with his new track “The Beast.” The plan is to start slowly and then unleash a dynamic chorus with a flurry of keyboards, horns and orchestrated chaos. Then dissolve back into a hypnotic layer of cool. The plan succeeds.

Some stories they tell themselves,
It’s an endless carousel,
And we dance on into the dark
like we’re Isadora Duncan.

Between the third or the fourth cocktail,
I lost track of the fine detail,
While my attention was caught,
My shadow flew south for winter.

And I can feel the beast making its way towards me

Sparse strings, an ominous ping and we are already deep into the world of the tune. McRae’s raspy voice enters casually. A mood becomes a moment becomes a story. Maybe we’ve been here before, but this angle is a new one.

Is the beast from without or within? Do we have mortal enemies or are we our own worst? Is the world survivable if both are in play?

In “The Beast,” it’s an endless carousel.
