Dutch Duo Feng Suave Channel Their Love Of 70’s Pop Drama In Creating Showstopper “Show Me”

Feng Suave know how to construct melodies. They know how to commit to the inherent drama they create in their songs. They know how to take it back a notch and in doing so heighten the sweet in the sweet spots.

“Show Me” is ridiculously cool. Delivered at a teasing pace with occasional dramatic pauses, it romances slowly, all the while revealing a somber undertone of longing in the lyrics.

“Tomorrow’s filled
With sounds and thrills
And flashing lights
A cosmic sigh
I never will be more aware
That I’m not really there.”

It’s a 1970’s approach brought into the musical atmosphere of 2022.

I first heard Feng Suave with 2020’s lilting ballad “Maybe Another Time” (Youtube link.) It’s great to hear their commitment to old-school pop continue on 2021’s EP So Much For Gardening.

So Much For Gardening is the perfect soundtrack to a late summer day and comes with a dose of 50s and 60s revival, sprinkled with grains of salt in the shape of the band’s wryly sarcastic lyrics observing societal problems.

“Show Me” video still. (Facebook)

We jokingly describe (our sound) as retro infused angst pop. But that’s only for a lack of better term. It’s probably indie, it’s definitely pop, but probably indie.

The official music video for “Show Me” was posted on YouTube on April 22, 2022. As of this post it has 38,000 views.

Clocking in at just under 6 minutes long, “Show Me” never seems long enough. It’s a definite candidate for one of those 1-hour loop remixes.

I’m not sure where a sound like this goes for more attention in 2022. But I am sure where it goes for me — straight through the ears into the heart.
