The Haunted Youth (Record Link) founder and front man Joachim Liebens seems less accessible as their sound evolves. In “Gone,” he’s got no anthemic chorus to sell us. He wants his song-writing and guitar playing to speak for him. He’s on a journey through waves and layers of sound and soft vocals, and over 7 minutes later it feels like we’ve gone there with him.
Belgian dreampop act The Haunted Youth conclude 2021 strongly with the release of their new track Gone, the follow up to Coming Home, and another advancing step in the band’s successful trail with a trilogy of singles.
Gone is a dreamy track with a slower pace than The Haunted Youth’s previous offerings, even though the hazy and altogether appealing components of Joachim Liebens’ musical efficiency are still whole.

If you’re looking for mesmerizing psych-pop to dream away to, The Haunted Youth is your kind of band. Joachim Liebens’ (27) songs about despair, hope, and the feeling of being a misunderstood misfit – are coated in a rich and dreamy international sound that will sweep you off your feet.

“Coming Home” (link) brought me to the band. It was a favorite the year of release. “Gone” is more of a slow grower. But here it is over 8 months since its late December 2021 release, and I am more than willing to give the song a blog entry.
The Haunted Youth are buzzy in 2022. “Gone” is helping them maintain momentum on their journey while inviting listeners to accept the invitation to fall between the folds of its world.
